The sex-ed / menstrual-ed classes by Havasu Helping Girls will be focused on teaching girls and young women all they need to know about:
- Puberty
- Female Anatomy and Reproduction
- Menstruation & Menstrual Hygiene
- Toxic Shock Syndrome
- Proper and safe use of period products
- Body Image and Mental Health
- Contraceptive Options and Abstinence
- Sexually Transmitted Infections
- Consent, Sexual Abuse, and Sexual Assault
- Relationships, Healthy Relationship Traits, and Relationship Violence
The courses will be open to ages 9-18. Courses may be split into limited age groups (ex: 9-12 yo) to provide information on the above topics in a manner best suited for those age groups.
These courses are meant to provide greater detail and breadth than some typical sex-ed classes found in school classrooms. The students in the class will consist of “girls only” to provide an environment where each student can feel more comfortable to ask questions. Each class will also have a “question and answer” section to allow students to help everyone get the answers they need.
Havasu Helping Girls is committed to presenting information in these classes with no political or social biases. We do not push any agenda or ideals on students.
Our staff and presenters consist of several experts and professionals including physicians, OB/GYN practitioners, and others with backgrounds in biology, obstetrics and gynecology, menstrual health, contraception, and mental health.
Each student is advised at the beginning of the class of the confidentiality policy.
